This initiative offers comprehensive 12-week training in productions sewing, alterations and upcycling. Participants not only gain the technical skills required for small batch production, but they also build the confidence to innovate and express their cultural heritage through their work. By emphasizing quality craftsmanship and creativity, we equip women with the tools they need to establish or enhance their presence in the marketplace. This preparation enables them to turn their talents into sustainable ventures, employment opportunities and deliver high-quality products to a diverse clientele.

In collaboration with Detroit Public Schools Community District and Global Detroit, our Language Lab goes beyond traditional ESL classes. We integrate digital literacy into the curriculum, ensuring participants are equipped to navigate both language barriers and the increasingly digital landscape of today’s economy. This dual focus on communication and technology is crucial for enabling women to access broader opportunities in employment and entrepreneurship, ultimately bridging the gap between potential and achievement.

Tailored to meet the needs of our community, Woventures provides advanced workshops that emphasize not just readiness, but excellence in both the workplace and entrepreneurial spaces. This program is designed to connect women with opportunities in Detroit’s evolving small batch manufacturing sector, while also fostering entrepreneurial mindsets. Through these workshops, participants learn to navigate the complexities of business ownership, from financial management to market strategies, empowering them to create and sustain successful enterprises.

we prepare Skilled Talent
Our Thread & Thrive is a comprehensive series of textile art and sewing training designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to craft finished products to support commercial small batch production. Our sewing classes go beyond the needle and thread – they're a creative journey where skills are honed, and confidence is nurtured. Class levels include:
Beginning Sewing: Open to all, even those with no sewing experience
Intermediate Sewing: Sewing skill assessment required
Industrial Sewing: Sewing skill assessment required
D'ARTillery sewing series provides textile art and industrial sewing training to our participants. These skills can be leveraged to improve their economic prospects, whether it’s through a cottage business where they sell their textile arts or by acquiring a job with a local company where they utilize their industrial sewing skills for small batch production.
