Do you love working with fabric, supporting women, and bringing creative ideas to life?

We’re looking for a Sewing Room Assistant to join the team at D’ARTillery, a creative social enterprise rooted in the heart of Hamtramck. We serve a diverse community of global women through sewing instruction, small-batch production, and supportive programming designed to fuel creativity and economic opportunity.

What You’ll Do:

Support sewing production for in-house and client projects

Assist instructors during classes and workshops (setup, prep, troubleshooting)

Help maintain an organized, functional, and welcoming studio environment

Pitch in wherever needed in a fast-paced, creative space

Communicate with students and participants with clarity and care

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

• A confident sewist with experience using home and industrial machines

• Bi-lingual or multi-lingual (especially Arabic, Bangla, or French is a plus)

• A creative problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative, multicultural environment

• Reliable, flexible, and ready to jump in wherever needed

• Passionate about sewing, education, and community building

Bonus if you have:

• Pattern cutting or tailoring experience

• Classroom or community workshop experience

• Interest in fashion, upcycling, or design

• This is a part-time, on-site position in Hamtramck.

Schedule varies depending on project timelines and class programming. Weekend and evening availability is a plus.

This is a paid, part-time position. Compensation is based on experience.
